Alicia, I love this post , not only because of the profundity of the thoughts you share, but also because of the dignified and graceful writing. I'm so glad I signed up to be a follower of your blog, and I wish you well on your spiritual journeys. (My wife and I -- yes, did you hear that I fell in love on Match.com and we were married in August? --my wife and I are serious admirers of Pema Chodron and the Buddhist traditions. She reads a little of Pema every single day.)

Best wishes!
Mr. Salsich (or Ham, whichever you are more comfortable with)

'Morning Wuz;
On this first day of the new year, I've reread your recent reflections: "Another Trip Around the Sun". I think it is a very fitting read for today. It is a day to pause and I love thinking of you asking us to do that. You are very convincing and surely we don't pause often enough! Thank you!! And thank you for being an amazingly sensitive, humble and loving daughter!!
Love you,
Ba

Thank you Wuz.
What a wonderful reflective piece and with Gram at the center of it. It's particularly special for me because last year at this time was when TD called me to say I needed to get up there to York Harbor and I did. Thus began the end of Gram's life. I remember Mom saying of her mother's death that it was a blessing to be with her when she died. It certainly was an experience that I'll cherish those final weeks with Gram and the binding time I spent with TD. I miss Mama terribly and think of her many times a day. We went to a concert at the Westerly Chorus last Sunday and Mom was saying on our way home that I'd always call Gram after the concert to tell her all about it. I missed that. But if I listen carefully I can hear her voice. I can even hear my father's voice and he's been dead for 50 years. His is not as clear as Gram's. So as your reflection points out there are bitter sweet times and this is one. But it is a time of Thanksgiving and Gram would want us all to count our many blessings and of course she was responsible for so many of them, not so much in a material way but in a very spiritual way of how to live our lives with love in our hearts just as she did so beautifully.
